Hit the Ground Running
Suggested Solutions for the Democratic Platform
SAMPLE WORK SHEET TO FUEL YOUR THINKING by
BARBARA MITCHELL JULY 14, 2008 FOR:
Plan to Decrease/Eliminate Foreign-Oil Dependency
Continue the battery charged automobiles.
Increase the work being done with Wind, Solar and water as energy sources.
Actually, for large farms, which should be among the first of the federal government "For Profit" Owned and Run by the federal Government, Not privatized, it would be a big financial advantage for the government to begin production of a "For Profit" wind/Energy factory etc. A big cost to large farms is the, current, cost of energy to operate the irrigation (watering) of the farms
Also another idea that can be worked to help all farmers and people in general is what I will call Coop Bio-diesel and Ethanol location owned and operated by local people of each town/state etc. from their own town or state grown corn. That is not as complicated as it sounds. Think Moonshine-whiskey for simplicity in reference to Bio- diesel and Ethanol; that would make taxing easier to regulate….
If we are going to become oil independent in the U.S., we have to be bold and get to work with a plan….and stop acting like coward hostages to the oil companies, otherwise, maybe the government should just let the oil companies run the world, because they certainly are controlling negatively ever business which negatively affect every U.S. person in one way or the other….
40 percent of the profit from all oil purchased in the U.S. from the four or five major oil companies should be paid to the U.S. Government….with the government owning 40 percent of the four or five oil companies. Tax exempt of course for the government, but taxable for the oil companies. (The tax part is not rocket scientist; it's only a paper transaction)If the government is going to be held hostage as if they are part owner of the oil companies regardless.
The government should receive 40 percent of the oil profit. Every time there is a storm, fire, threat anywhere in the world etc., the people pay more at the pumps. Additionally the oil companies want the government to subsidize their expansion, even occasionally their disaster repairs, no matter how much profit their oil companies have made. So why not have the government receive 40 percent of the oil profits….
That is not an unreasonable action to take toward the oil companies, because the oil industry is currently bankrupting most U.S. companies; that is, of course being passed on to bankrupting people, which goes full circle back to a bankrupting the U.S government…This action would have to be closely regulated….
How can we form a regulatory entity to regulate "All" that will not be "For Sale?"
I repeat we have to make serious changes. We know where the old system ultimately got us.
To put into motion this debt paying system, again, we need the best and brightest team, who can Hit the Ground Running without fear.
For the oil companies the best team of legal minds that can be found will be needed to draft and ink the deal... Either take the profit, or break up the oil companies like was done before. However because of the U.S. debt, I say take 40 percent of the U.S. earned profit, and 40 percent of any profits "said" companies make from Iraq Oil…..By the time the full U.S. debt is paid, I am thinking within 10 to 15 years if the government goes "For profit", The U.S. will be about 60 percent independent of oil, so there will be no need to break -up the oil companies. into smaller ones; They will be coming obsolete in the U.S.
With the "Green Movement" and U.S. becoming a major force in manufacturing again, a lot of plastic, which are oil-based will have been replaced also…..

(parts of a letter that I sent to Obama October 14, 2008 On his choice of Advisors and oil energy etc.)
October 14, 2008
Office of the U.S. Senator Barack Obama
230 South Dearborn St. Suite 3900
Chicago, Illinois 60604
Dear Senator Obama,
I have read your plan for Small Businesses. It is a good one. However because of my experience, and the experience of many others with the SBA, the Small Business Administration needs to be totally restructured before any money is put into it. It has not worked for Small Businesses, the last 10 -15 years, which means it is even more outdated than most government agencies. It cost the SBA approximately $100,000 to process a $10, 000 loan to regular small business people; that is not counting what it cost the Small Business person who is applying for the $10,000 loan. Where as the "Big Boys" for Big Business get $ millions/ billions on a hand shake......Thats the America that few want to really discuss.......
A good reason to pay attention to my judgment. In the July platform meeting information, "Pay off the Billion Dollar Debt " I suggested that any company the federal government have to bailout; they should buy equal shares of stocks if they must use the tax payers' money. It took big stock loses etc. for the federal government to finally reach that conclusion. I was preaching from 2001 that the current state of the economy would result as it has, if the run away Bush-train was not stopped. I have copies of letters that I wrote to Senator Kerry in 2003 & 2004 which validates that information…
The selling off, or privatizing so much of the government owned and operated properties has really hurt the government; The Government privatize a business or service, then the business that the government has been sold to , turns around and charges the government and American people , two to three times what the services was costing the government and the people before they sold it. Who does that make sense to? No one talks about that, the Iraq war is one example.
Taxes have never been enough to support all the necessary functions of the government. In the platform information, Pay off the Billion Dollar Debt "I also talk about how the government can and will have to do businesses-for profit- to pay off the governments' debt and fund the governments operating expense... I think people who keep saying that you are increasing taxes etc. no matter how many times you explain, would be happy with that idea. However since you are ahead in the polls, I would not mention that; just know that is your only option.
There are not enough taxes being paid to cover government expense, and certainly not to pay off the debt. With the repair and rebuilding of the infrastructures, the down side of not having health care and a failing education system, McCain "spending freeze" is definitely not and option.
In the debate with Brokaw when Allen Shaffer rose and asked: "With the economy on the downturn and retired and older citizens and workers losing their incomes, what's the fastest, most positive solution to bail these people out of the economic ruin?" Neither you, are Senator McCain answered. A good answer might have been: with all the resources and talent that the U.S. have, I am open to doing something as drastic as creating a branch of the government that will own and operate "for profit businesses" to generate funds to pay off the huge government debt, and replace income loses that many retired, older citizens and workers in general have suffered. Adding that: I am sure I will get opposition for that, but unless the opposition comes up with a better way, without taxing the American people to death, I will fight to create a "For Profit" branch for the people, and to help pay off the debt which will help the U.S. regain global respect as well, when I am President.
I know you have a lot of advisors warren Buffet etc, but there is a great need for the grass root people who have walk the walk, both up and down, within the last 10-15 years, to represent exactly how Small Business works, and does not work for the "truly" Small Business people. More times than not , there are too many degrees of seperation between the , truly ,Small Business people walking the walk ,and those Millionaires and billionaires talking the talk....
(1(1/22/2008-This could not have been more evident then Alan Greenspan stated that he thought that big business could govern themselves without government regulation being enforced."Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, Former Treasury Secretary John Snow, and SEC Chairman Chris Cox testified about the state of the economy, recent turmoil in the U.S. and global financial markets, and the role of federal regulators in the breakdown of the market on Wall Street. In response to sometimes partisan and pointed questioning Mr. Greenspan said that he may have been mistaken about the reliability of some financial instruments, such as insurance-like credit-default swaps, that were not yet common when he expressed his views about markets being able to police themselves".)

I also read the attached article: Lord John Browne tells Leeds Corporate Wisdom lecture world economy is facing "unprecedented" challenges. He added --I am struck by the degree of uncertainty and complexity we have-- today".http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/business-news/Lord-John-Browne-tells-Leeds.4579264.jp
This is the same John Brown that was CEO of Amoco Bp from 1998 to 2007. He had worked in BP for his entire career of 30 something years. He has many Academic degrees. (Another reason to appreciate your community organizations training) Apparently none of John Browns' studies included history. Additionally from 2002 -2007, I personally wrote him letters in reference to what Amoco BP was doing to My company explaining to him that exactly what has happened in the U.S. and the world would happened because of the way they and others treated Small Businesses. He either never received the letter, or just wrote me off as some unimportant person. (Several of the letters are on my web site now)
John Browne is one of the men who met with Dick Cheney and George Bush during that energy meeting that Dick Cheney refuse to give copies of to anyone, even after the court demanded them. This man is surprised; He is clearly a big part of the current economy problems. Yet he does not have a clue……
There are many people like McCain who have no idea what life is really like for middle class people. Too be honest, many of the government representative do not know either. Nor do they know how to represent the middle class. If they did, they would not have allowed so many "truly" Small Businesses to be taken over by big business…..
They would have been on the phone after the price of oil per barrel begin dropping from $147.00 per barrel in July 2008, yet the prices at the pump just begin to fall. http://zachadoosmile.newsvine.com/_news/2008/09/12/1858730-oil-companies-lie-about-pump-gas-prices- As of 10/13/2008, I saw diesel in Chicago at a Shell service station priced at $4, 99 per gallon. The political representatives' are accustom to supporting, or addressing the needs of the rich and poor. There will have to be a new set of representatives elected to address the needs of the middle class, or the current representative need to attend middle class training session to develop a thick enough skin to go up against the real "old boys" in order to support the needs of the middle class This is a new day of crisis. I will be glad to help administer the training.
They talk about the housing because it's safer than talking about, and sharing equally the blame on the "Oil Boogie men" who control the oil / energy. Housing maybe dug some holes, but the increase in oil / energy really did an equal amount of damages, because it is the one thing that people could not do without...
In the debate,"Brokaw: Should we fund a Manhattan-like project that develops a nuclear bomb to deal with global energy and alternative energy or should we fund 100,000 garages across America, the kind of industry and innovation that developed Silicon Valley?"
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/07/presidential.debate.transcript/index.html#cnnSTCText
This question was asked during the debate, neither you are senator McCain gave a direct answer, maybe because the question is worded a little strange, because he was trying not to be direct and say: I believe he was asking, are you going to let the oil companies-T. Boone Pickens, control the alternative energy like it is now controlling the oil etc., or, are you going to give Small Businesses an opportunity to participate this time around?
http://www.reuters.com/article/email/idUKWBT00919620080617 Included on the enclosed CD, within the "Hit the ground running" is information is how Small Businesses can supply large amounts of alternative energy. http://eknitsuer.com/OIL_SPECULATION.html
The oil companies put T. Boone Pickens out front to do the bidding. He has been over the Capital hedge fund for BP for years, and denied that the oil price increase was all about speculation. I believe that the oil companies are paying for some of the very expensive T V commercial air time that we have been seen lately with T.Boone. He started doing the commercials shortly after I challengened his speculation comment on my website.
What will make you one of histories most successful Presidents is that you are aware of some of what you do not know , but please don't let all of your advice come from those who have been in position to make changes for years, but have not. There are a lot of John Browne's' and T Boones' out there running things, who are even asked to speak at "Wisdom lectures" of all things. The Blind leading the blind, "everyone falls in the ditch "as the U. S. currently has fallen…..
What is good about the world being in a bad shape economically now, is people have to admit that they were not doing everything the best way, or right way. If they had, things would not have fallen apart; it creates an acceptable reason to fix all that is broken from the floor up….
I have often quoted "I feel sorry for the man that cannot feel the pain of the whip when it is on the other mans back". Abraham Lincoln.
